Richard Burrell Waller (1842-1930) was a son of John G. Waller and Elizabeth Moore Waller, who were born in Virginia but migrated to Williamson County, Tennessee. Richard was born on July 5, 1842, in Williamson County, Tennessee. Elizabeth Moore Waller and two of her children, Richard B. and Kidder M., came to Jefferson County, Florida, in 1855. Richard enlisted at the age of 19 as a Private in Company D, 2nd Infantry Regiment of Florida. He served for the Confederacy with distinguishment, that Regiment having fought extensive battles. On 4/9/1865, his company surrendered and he was mustered out of service after almost 4 years. He lived at New Hope (near Istachatta but in Citrus County) for the next 40 years, and died there. He was married three times, to Carrie Anderson (Feb. 15, 1868), to Mary Caroline Pemberton (Feb. 22, 1891), and to Lillian Huntley Peters Miley (Sept. 9, 1893). Lillian died on Sept. 25, 1934.
