| Elfers State Bank Building. Constructed in 1926 to house the First State Bank of Elfers, but never actually was used as a bank. This postcard, perhaps from the 1940s, is labeled Mainaris Apartments. According to David Henry, Theophanis Mainaris (1884-1974) and Margaret (Newman) Mainaris (1901-1992) owned the building for quite some time. When Theofanis died, Margaret sold the building to Katina Dede, a relative, reserving for herself an apartment to remain free of rent and utilites until her death. |
