| This view to the West and Gulf, taken 1962, shows FloraMar Drive, at its intersection with US19. To the lower extreme right corner of the photograph is a very small Marine Parkway. Jasmine Heights Subdivision is visible, the original section having been developed sometime in 1957-1958. One can see many farms and fields where there are now homes and businesses. Note that US 19 was not really developed in this period, yet demand for housing is apparent. The road crossing US19, going East/West on the left of the photograph, is a very sparsely developed Trouble Creek Road, connecting at its western boundary with Strauber Memorial Highway. The home barely visible in the picture to the north of a small pond on the north side of Trouble Creek was built in 1934, and is still standing. Photo by Angelo Deciucies. Caption by David A. Henry. |
