Mitchell and Hudson General Merchandise, at Sapling Woods (now Elfers). According to Ralph Bellwood, "The picture is of the first store anywhere in West Pasco." He writes that the photo was taken around the turn of the century. The store was owned by Senator Jesse M. Mitchell, who was assisted by Isaac W. Hudson Jr. Oldtimers recalled that Mitchell had a warehouse on the Anclote River. Merchandise was brought by boat to the warehouse and stored until needed at the store. It was transported to the store by horse-drawn wagon. This store was later operated by Homer Henderson, father of Roscoe Henderson.
