This photo appeared in the New Port Richey Press on Sept. 30, 1949, with the following caption:

The above picture shows Councilman Wintle Long presenting Dr. Edwin Brookman, New Port Richey’s mayor, a resolution extolling his efforts in promoting the Chasco Fiesta, outstanding civic event here. The resolution printed on another page of the Press sets forth that “WHEREAS, Dr. Brookman now has, in the pursuance of his great interest in this event, presented to the City a beautiful bronze plaque, which is to remain the property of the City of New Port Richey, but is to be awarded each year to that person who has, in the opinion of the Judges, had the best decoration for this event, and that said plaque contains a bronze plate which is to be attached to that plaque, which plate is to be retained by the awardee, after it is to be awarded to another,” . . . . and that “the undersigned feel that this action upon the part of Dr. Brookman is another evidence of his unselfish effort to advance and promote the interest of New Port Richey in general and the Chasco Fiesta in particular.”

Those in the picture besides the mayor and Long are (left to right) Councilman Fred K. Marchman; Mrs. Dorothy Cornell, council stenographer; city clerk John W. Boyd. Others of the council present at the presentation last week were Councilman Frank I. Grey, George A. Dame and R. J.Brecker. —Photo by Lagerberg.
