Port Richey School, perhaps in the 1910s.
This building was used as a school until 1920, when Port Richey children
were transported to New Port Richey.
The historical marker read:
Port Richey Community Church. Originally
a schoolhouse built by Robert Nicks in 1906. This building
later served as a community center and
place of worship for the Snyder Memorial Methodist Episcopal
Church. Renamed the Port Richey Community Church in 1940.
This frame structure continues to serve a non-denominational
congregation.
However, school board records seem to imply the school may have been built in 1910 by the school board
on land donated by Robert Nicks. When the building was demolished in 2005, it may have been
the oldest building in Port Richey.
