The top photo appeared in the New Port Richey Press
on Nov. 11, 1949, with the caption: "Citrus groves bearing
the finest fruit are among the assets of this section.
Here is an airplane view of the section between New Port Richey
and Elfers, a distance of about two miles These groves help
fill the cars shipped by Elfers Citrus Growers Association
and some of the fruit is packed right from the grove and
sold at roadside stands or sold in gift boxes for individual
buyers."
David A. Henry adds the following information: "This is a view looking North on Grand Boulevard or as it was called "Old Dixie Highway", just south of the intersection of Trouble Creek Road. The Swartzels and Mitchells owned much of the Citrus Farms in this area. An unpaved US19 (though not referred to that at the time) is in the distance."
